Liv Hair Studio began in 2015 as Hair By Chantel. When Chantel moved from Pretoria to St Francis Bay after the birth of her first son — chasing a simpler life by the sea — she saw the need for a spacious, upmarket salon in the village, and set about building one.
From the start, the salon was about more than hair. Chantel began training young women from the Humansdorp community, and the team has pursued the latest training and workshops every year since. Year by year the salon grew — and so did its family of regulars. Locals and seasonal holiday-makers alike became part of the furniture.
In 2023, Hair By Chantel became Liv Hair Studio: a new name for the same warm, talented team. Today, we are ten women who love serving our special clients.

Behind every chair at Liv is someone who genuinely loves this work — and it shows in the energy of the salon and the loyalty of our clients, some of whom have been with us from the very first year.
Giving back is woven into how Liv works — from training young stylists out of the Humansdorp community to sending a client's cut ponytail to the Cancer Foundation to become a wig for a woman in need.
